I started this list because I wanted to see the patterns in the production of shows that I particularly enjoy. I’ve included some dramas that I haven’t yet seen but I would like to see.
This list will be updated as I move through my queue of things to watch.

And because I love me some good music…
From the 2008 K-drama Hong Gil Dong starring Kang Ji-hwan and Sung Yu-ri:
“My Luck Is Great” – No Brain
10 responses to “Directors, Producers, and Screenwriters I like”
With the exception of the Hong Sisters, I’ve never really chosen my dramas based on the people who make them. It’s always story, genre and actors (in that order). This is very new & interesting to me!
p/s Perchance have you seen 9 Ends 2 Outs?
Yup! So adorable. One of my favs.
I haven’t yet looked into directors/screenwriters/producers of dramas yet (the only name that sounds familiar from your list are the Hong sisters), although I do note it with films.
I’m quite intrigued you are making lists of directors, screenwriters and producers…. I would probably go for directors & screenwriters only because that tells me about the story/quality of plot/cinematographic choices etc. But producers… don’t they just pump money into a production?
I do it because I like to see the pattern of who works on what. If i see that a producer, director or writer has done other work that I like, I’m more inclined to watch it.
Oh yeah… I forgot to comment earlier. Can’t say much for favorite director or producer, but writers – definitely the Hong Sisters. It was pretty smart of you to go back to the source and figure out the pattern of writers, directors, and producers that you liked. This list is definitely useful for people who have certain types of dramas that they enjoy.
Javabeans is always talking about it so I decided to make a list and see what similarities I could put together. I have yet to be able to make any in depth comparisons but I see the basic gist. Now the challenge is to keep up with my list…If you have anyone you enjoy, please share, and it will be added.
Your list almost the same as mine…
here my list
My fav director : Jin Hyuk, Kim Yoon Chul, Park Chan Hong, Kim Ji Woo, Pyo Min Soo
My fav. screenwriter: Soo Hyun Kyung, Hong Sister, Noh Hee Kyung, Song Ji Na
missjb- The one’s you have that I don’t have are the one’s whose work I haven’t yet seen. I do plan on watching “Story of a Man” soon so I’ll get to see Song Ji-na’s work! Hopefully I’ll get to the others sometime. Why does work get in the way of watching k-dramas?
You should watch Story of a man, It’s so good, I’m really looking forward to see her newest drama What’s up, honestly.
PS: sorry Kim Ji Woo is a screenwriters, not director. My mistake… She is my favourite, too.. she is awsome… hehe…
And don’t worry, I’m new in kdramaland, too. Lucky me I knows some good writers and director from reading many blog about kdrama. 😀
I am DLing Story of a Man right now!
